Paper works fine for a small group. A few habits keep it from falling apart.
Put the sheet on a clipboard with the pen tied on. A pen on a string stays with the sheet.
Name one person as sheet-keeper. They cross songs off as they finish, so the order never depends on memory.
Print two. When the first fills up at line 22, the second is already at the table, and it continues the order instead of starting a rival one.
Write the house rules at the top before printing, such as one song per turn and group songs count as one turn.
If it prints small or splits across two pages, choose Default margins, turn off headers and footers, and set scale to 100%.
Every host who has run a night off a clipboard has hit at least one of these.
Someone borrows the pen and the sheet drifts to the other end of the bar. Names get written under the wrong row, or a second sheet starts and nobody knows which is the real order.
By the fourth round the handwriting is rough. The host squints at the sheet and mispronounces a name, or calls for a song they can't read, and the singer who signed up waits.
Whoever stands nearest the sheet signs up most. Regulars add a second song the moment they finish, and "I was here before him" is an argument the sheet can't settle.
Signing up means crossing the room to a clipboard. The people you most want to hear from are the ones least willing to do it in front of everyone.
Queueoke is the sheet without the clipboard. Free, no account, and guests don't install anything.
Lost places
One live list that everyone sees on their own phone and on the TV. It can't wander off.
Illegible writing
Guests search for the song and type their own name, so the title and artist are spelled right every time.
Fairness disputes
Sign-ups land in the order they happen. You can drag a singer up or down if there's a good reason, and everyone sees the change.
A walk to the front
Guests scan a QR code and sign up from their seat, without announcing it to the room.
Start a free session, put the QR code on the TV, and your sign-up sheet runs itself. Free for 2 hours, no sign-up and no credit card.
Keep the printout as a backup. Need more than 2 hours? Pro is $9/month, see pricing.
